Meito Band to play at ICAN festival

April 18th, 2010 · Music News

Just a quick note to let everyone know that some of the guys will be playing at the upcoming ICAN festival on Saturday, April 24th.

We’re going to kick things off around 1:30pm and play for about an hour or so or until we’re kicked off the stage.

It’s an open air performance, and if the weather’s good, should be a good time.

We’ll be playing some of the stuff from the Sunday Sessions CD, but also a few other songs, some in Japanese with a rare chance to hear Jimmy sing.

We’ll also be doing some more contemporary gospel tunes, so it’s not all bluegrass.

I don’t have all the details on the location, but will post that when I get it.

So, stay tuned…

Meito Junction cd release inches closer…

April 18th, 2010 · Music News

Okay gang, first, thanks so much for all the great feedback and patience.

We really are doing this out of love, and a desire to create something that we’re proud of and that will be a record of this time in our lives, musically.

Thanks to William and Brian’s hard work, we’re getting very, very close to finishing things up. The tracks are remixed and maybe all the tweaking there is done (that we have the patience to do! 🙂

We’ve added another track (“I Saw the Light”) and cleaned up some of the noise as well as worked on the balance a bit.

Since these are essentially ‘live’ session recordings it can be a bit tricky, but things are coming together rather nicely.

It’s been a real joy and pleasure playing these songs and getting them recorded has brought me personally a great sense of happiness. I can’t wait to share this with our family and friends.

Tracks now on this CD include:

Softly and Tenderly
Family of God
Do Lord (This Little Light of Mine)
Peace Like a River
He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands
In the Garden
Mountain Railway
I’ll Fly Away
Power in the Blood
Nearer My God to Thee
Will the Circle Be Unbroken
Just a Closer Walk With Thee
Gospel Medley – Amazing Grace, Crying Holy, Thank You Jesus
I Love to Tell the Story
What a Friend We Have in Jesus

plus: I Saw the Light

Going to work on the album art and liner notes this week and then we should be ready to go to press.

Thanks again to everyone who’s worked on this.

–Allen

Meito Junction gets set for CD release

March 14th, 2010 · Music News

Okay, it’s getting close, and I know there has been a few different dates up to now, but we’re finally getting things about ready.

Your patience has been much appreciated! After starting rehearsals last summer a few Sunday afternoons a month, since all of us have some strange schedules and getting everyone together for rehearsals and finally for the recording sessions proved a little more difficult than we’d thought.

We’re working on the last of the mixing now, all songs for this CD have been recorded, just a little final tweaking.

Here’s who’s on the recording:

Allen Williams — guitar and vocals
Byron Peterson — banjo, mandolin, vocals
“Jimmy” Jinushi — guitar
Yoshiharu “Yoshi” Masuda — acoustic bass
William Matheny — mandolin, bass guitar, vocals

This CD titled “Sunday Sessions” will contain a whopping 15 tracks, just under 40 minutes of music.

Tracks on this CD include:

Softly and Tenderly
Family of God
Do Lord (This Little Light of Mine)
Peace Like a River
He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands
In the Garden
Mountain Railway
I’ll Fly Away
Power in the Blood
Nearer My God to Thee
Will the Circle Be Unbroken
Just a Closer Walk With Thee
Gospel Medley – Amazing Grace, Crying Holy, Thank You Jesus
I Love to Tell the Story
What a Friend We Have in Jesus

While some of those are standard hymns, we’ve put a decidedly bluegrass twist to them.

Stay tuned for more updates, photos, a few clips and samples and the official announcement of the release and where you can get your own copy of “Sunday Sessions”

Note: proceeds from CD sales will go to support Meito Christ International Church in Nagoya, Japan (where we spend a lot of our time playing music together and where these recordings were made.
